ANNOUNCEMENTS

WELCOME TO MISWA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL:-

Miswa Christian School is one of our new projects, this is a School with a difference.  We are not only a school for children, but for adults as well, and we also use the same facility for a skills training center.  We are based in a small area of Chisamba District, which borders what is called the Forest Area, and Miswa is just a station within the area.  The people of this area live in extreme poverty. There is no other school for 14km, and the little ones can not walk that long distance.  Therefore, the need came up at us, to start a school.  We have a Nursery School, and Junior School from Grade One to Grade Seven.  We have registered to date, 173 pupils, and it is growing fast.

Due to the poverty, parents can not afford to send children to school.  The average farm worker in the area earns a monthly salary of K 250 000.00 ($50.00). School fees are K30 000.00 per child per term ($6.00).  An average family has 4 to 5 children, and they can not afford to send all their children to school, so what they do is send the eldest child only.  The other 3 or 4 children are not being educated.  We only charge K2000.00 ($0.50c) per child per term, and I can tell you that they are even struggling to pay us this amount, and how do you turn away a child from getting an education?

THIS IS ONE OF THE CLASSROOMS WE HAVE BUILT:-                      THIS IS THE GRADE ONE'S THEY HAVE NO CLASSROOM:

We have 5 teachers at the school, and they work for mealie meal from me, and 10kg's of mealie meal at that per month.  There is just no funding available to give them a salary, but they are so devoted and loyal to our program.  Last term, at mid-term, we had a 20% pass rate, now please bear in mind that we only started the school on the 17th of May 2011. So this was a very big concern to me, and by the end of term, the teachers had pulled the children up to a 55% pass rate.  That is dedication to teaching.  They also teach the adult school in the afternoons, and we have 25 registered adults at the school.  They mostly want to learn to speak English, but to finish their education or receive an education that they otherwise couldn't when younger.

As you can see, we have no proper facilities.  The weather is now against us, and the October heat is coming fast up at us. Then following the heat is the heavy rain falls.  We are absolutely desperate to start building a facility.  However, we have no funding to do this.  PLEASE SUPPORT US - URGENTLY.  We have a project plan and a building contractor on hand, just need finance.

We are also looking for sponsorship for our teacher's salary.  We are looking for K250 000.00 ($50.00) a month for each of them.

We are building a special classroom block per say, that will teach:-

Cooking, Arts and Crafts, IT - Basic Computer Skills, Woodwork and Technical Drawing, and Needlework, giving the young school leavers and the adults an opportunity to learn a skill, and to start their own business or be able to get a job.

To change the poverty - we need to educate the people.  If they do not have a skill or an education they will not be able to earn any money, and have a better life, please make a difference in someone's life to day, and make a donation to us,  The forest area that I spoke of earlier at the last count 5 years ago was 3 500 people.  We are wanting to find teams of people to go in to the forest and take the word of God to them, and most importantly of all, the love of God to them.  It also seems as if we will be building schools throughout this forest area, as there is just no schools available.
